Our safety manager reported that some of the highest safety incidents in our organization didn’t happen on the job site, they happened when employees were driving rental or pool cars. Our safety records were negatively impacted by something as simple as speeding tickets or fender benders in cars the company was responsible for.  I was given a PowerPoint of basic driver safety training and asked to make a course that would be assigned to employees who had a certain number of safety incidents on their record while driving company cars.

Solution:

Adult learners are typically going to see “Remedial Driver Safety Training” and tune out, thinking they know it all already. In fairness to the learner, I created a learning game that would provide a fun and engaging “test/tell” learning experience. Employees would be given the opportunity to apply their prior knowledge of driver safety and have the opportunity to learn new information as they played the game. Sadly, our budget did not allow for the actual awarding of millions to our learners.

Tools:

This was designed and built in Articulate 360. “Phone a Friend” videos were designed using Plotagon animation software and voiceovers were created using MURF AI narration software. Video components were edited in Camtasia. This course incorporates video, triggers, states, layers and variables in Articulate to make the millionaire magic happen and create realistic game play.
